Automate without dehumanising: the real challenge
Automation is often presented as a race for productivity. Yet its most useful benefit may be elsewhere: removing repetitive work to give people more time for what genuinely requires attention.
Automate tasks, not relationships
Producing meeting notes, classifying data or preparing a first response can be delegated to a system. Listening to someone, understanding tension or making a decision in an ambiguous situation remains fundamentally different.
The right question
Before automating a task, it is worth asking a simple question: will the time saved be reinvested in something more useful? If not, automation may simply make a poorly designed process run faster.
Technology becomes truly interesting when it makes work smoother and creates more room for thought, creativity and human relationships.
